Dallas Mavericks vs Golden State Warriors: NBA Game Preview, Predictions

Dallas vs Golden State

Game Time February 27, 2022 at 07:30 pm ET

A key Western Conference matchup will pit two perennial MVP candidates against each other when Luka Doncic visits Steph Curry in the bay. The Warriors have struggled without Draymond Green in the lineup but one of the more convincing wins during this stretch came against Dallas in a 130-92 victory at home. The Mavs have been the better team as of late with a 7-3 record over its last ten games. When the Mavericks traded Kristaps Porzingis, they also traded a lot of their size advantage in the starting five. Now, they have to go smaller at the five with either Dwight Powell or Maxi Kleber. While the Warriors aren’t generally one to take advantage of opposing centers, not having one against them can be a disadvantage.

Curry seemed to regain his fire at the all-star game in his birth state of Ohio as he set an all-star game record for three-point shots made. We talk a lot about revenge in the NBA, particularly between conference rivals. The Mavs have impressed this year, and although much of their offense still runs through Doncic, it’s been an effective strategy so far. When we think of Dallas and Golden State we immediately think of the offense. But both teams rank fifth and first in the league respectively in terms of defensive efficiency. I don’t think being without Porzingis matters all that much to Dallas, and while I lean to taking the points with the Mavs, my best play on this game is going to be on the Under.
