Winnipeg Jets @ Colorado Avalanche

Winnipeg Jets

Winnipeg Jets @ Colorado Avalanche Revenge will be on the minds of Winnipeg after losing to Colorado by a score of 7-1 back in early January. The Avs have rolled this year to a 36-10-4 record to take first place in the Central division, while the Jets have struggled to a middling 22-20-8 record, good for sixth place in the Central. Colorado is also a sparkling 21-3-2 at home and 12-4-2 against division rivals. On paper, Colorado’s offense is easily the best unit in the game averaging more than a goal per game more than Winnipeg. On the defensive end, both teams leave a lot to be desired, particularly with two bottom half penalty killing units. The Avs will be without superstar Nathan MacKinnon in Wednesday’s game against Detroit, but the team does expect him to return against Winnipeg.

The star missed several games earlier this year after suffering a concussion and facial fracture, but Colorado really hasn’t skipped a beat. Meanwhile the Jets continue to miss several key contributors including Brian Little and Nikolaj Ehlers, two key components of its offense. I usually like to side with the team looking for revenge, but the mismatch in Colorado is just too much to ignore. The Avs have an incredibly deep squad even if MacKinnon doesn’t return for the game. The offensive output alone should be worth looking at. The Avs have been heavy favorites in games this year at odds so high that it hasn’t been worth it to bet them as moneyline favorites. If you want to bet on Colorado take the puck line -1.5, but if not, my best bet is the over in this game.
