The Blue Devils will certainly have revenge on their minds when they head to Charlottesville on Wednesday to take on the Cavaliers. Virginia upset Duke on February 7th, beating them 69-68 in Durham for only Duke’s fourth loss of the year. The previous three had come against Ohio State, Miami, and Florida State respectively. Since February 7th, Duke has gotten back to their winning ways with four straight wins, going 2-2 against the spread in those four games. Virginia has gone 2-1 including a victory over Miami last game by a score of 74-71. On paper this seems like a no-brainer: revenge for a Duke team that has steamrolled its conference opponents this year.

Duke has the sixth best offensive rating in the nation and the 46th best defensive rating, while Virginia sits at 139th and 165th. While they couldn’t take advantage of it last game, Duke also has a massive advantage in rebounding as well as three-point shooting and true shooting percentage. My only concern in the Blue Devils covering a road spread is how slow Virginia plays, especially at home. Virginia is 358th in the nation in offensive pace and often tries to lull its opponents to sleep. This will also limit Duke’s offensive possessions, meaning that the Blue Devils will need to rely more on defense to stop Virginia’s attack. I still can’t look any other way than towards Duke in this rematch, so I am laying the points with the Blue Devils on the road.
