NCAA Football: Iowa Hawkeyes vs Maryland Terrapins

Iowa Hawkeyes

A Big10 conference matchup between two undefeated teams, Iowa (5) and Maryland +3 takes place on Friday as the Hawkeyes visit College Park for only the second time in team history. Both teams are coming off wins against weaker competition as Iowa dispatched of Colorado State and Maryland beat Kent State from the MAC conference. Do not be thrown off by the number five ranking of Iowa though as the gap between these two teams has closed over the past couple of seasons. Iowa gets the respect, but has a much improved defense this season and has been so much more competitive since Taulia Tagovailoa took over at quarterback. Iowa has the defensive front to get after him, but Taulia can scramble with the best of them and should be able to avoid a potent pass rush. The Terrapins’ running back Tayon Fleet-Davis has also been impressive so far this season, averaging over 7.0 yards per rush attempt and has notched 14 catches so far in the first four games. The spread hasn’t moved off the field goal since it was posted earlier in the week. The public money is probably going to come in on Iowa as it usually does for ranked teams as small favorites, but I’m not so sure it should be. I don’t love Maryland as a small underdog, but I do think this offense can do some damage. I’m on the over in this one so get it at 47.5, as it has already climbed up from 46.5 when it opened.
