Road to March Madness 2022

March Madness 2022

The road to March Madness starts now, with the NCAA basketball season getting under way. Last year's runner up, the Gonzaga Bulldogs, are the early favorites to win it all this year at +750. They fell just short last year, having made it all the way to the championship game against Baylor, and then lost their first game all year that championship game. They lost by a large margin 86-70, and that came just after their huge buzzer-beater win against UCLA just a couple days before. I think they were still flying high from that Bruins victory and were just emotionally drained against Baylor. While I don't think they go undefeated in the regular season again (remember last year they had several games cancelled/postponed due to Covid- one of those game was supposed to be against Baylor) I still think they can make a deep run in the Tournament, and have a good chance of winning it all. Other teams that look strong early on are Michigan, UCLA, and Villanova. Duke might also make some noise this year in which sadly will be Coach K's last year with the Blude Devils when he will retire at the end of the season, though I think he will stay with the program in some capacity outside of coaching. So maybe the Blue Devils will play with a chip on their shoulder this season and "Win one for the Gipper." I'd personally like to see Coach K go out with a championship, or even at least a deep Final Four run.
