Georgia State @ Louisiana Lafayette -12.0

We have some Sunbelt Conference action on Thursday night when the Panthers from Georgia State take on the first place Ragin’ Cajuns. On paper it looks like a mismatch, with the 7-1 home team coming off a 45-0 drubbing of Texas State last week. The win extended Louisiana Lafayette's winning streak to seven straight games, with a perfect 5-0 against Sunbelt Conference opponents. Georgia State beat in-state rival Georgia Southern on Saturday, thanks to a 23-yard touchdown run with less than 30 seconds remaining in the game. The Panthers are now tied with Appalachian State for first place in the Sunbelt East, and have been on a mini roll after starting the season 1-4. The Ragin’ Cajuns are a perfect 5-0 against Georgia State all-time, including last year’s 34-31 overtime victory. While the Panthers’ passing game has been nothing to write home about, its rushing game actually ranks sixteenth in the nation, and should be able to give some trouble to the Ragin’ Cajuns. Louisiana Lafayette also has a strong run game, with a strong committee featuring four different backs. The Ragin’ Cajuns have the 23rd ranked rushing attack in the country, so this game should come down to who can stop the run the best. The Louisiana Lafayette defense is potentially the worst unit on the field, so as double digit favorites I am backing the Panthers to not win the game, but to keep it within the twelve points on Thursday.
