The Blues had the early lead and a superhuman effort from Jordan Binnington, but still couldn’t knock off the Avalanche in Game 1 of the series. Colorado bested St.Louis in overtime on a Josh Manson wrist shot from the point to take a 1-0 series lead and extend its playoff winning streak to five games so far this postseason. Jordan Binnington had 54 saves but had no answer when he was screened on Manson’s seeing-eye shot in overtime. The Blues were actually lucky to get it to overtime to begin with, and will likely need Binnington to match this type of performance in each game of the series if St. Louis has any hope of winning.
Colorado’s offense is just too potent to be kept off the board. The Blues did win the special teams battle on Tuesday killing off all three Colorado power plays and scoring a power play goal themselves. As for Game 2, the Blues really need to show us they can win a game without Binnington stealing it for them. Give me the Avalanche again in Game 2, and even sprinkle a small bet on the -1.5 puck line as well!
