Dallas Mavericks vs Phoenix Suns -6.0

Dallas vs Phoenix

NBA Conference Semifinals Game 2: Wednesday May 4th at 9:30 pm ET

Here we have another second round mismatch. Sure, Dallas had a good year. Their defense improved and Luka Doncic is cementing himself as a superstar in the league. But the fact is, Luka doesn’t have much help. Jalen Brunson has been fine and contributions from Maxi Kleber and Dorian Finney-Smith help, but it just seems like every Mavs win requires Doncic to put up 40 points. He scored 45 in Game 1 and it never seemed like Dallas would win the game. Phoenix is deep, way too deep for Dallas. In Game 1, six different players had double digits in scoring for Phoenix and Cam Payne had 9 points.

There simply isn’t any way for Dallas to stop Phoenix’s attack. What’s worse, Dallas can’t get anything going offensively without Doncic on the court. Deandre Ayton is having a field day down low against Dallas’ undersized front court and Phoenix knows it. Ayton had 20 field goal attempts in Game 1, although Dallas did a great job of not fouling him as he only had one free throw attempt. Still, unless Dallas can neutralize Ayton, he should continue to dominate the glass and the post. It was a great season for Dallas, but I’m laying the -6.0 with Phoenix in Game 2.
