NCAAF Previews for Aug 29-Sept 1

College football officially kicked off last week with Florida vs. Miami, but this weekend, the rest of the country will kick off. There are a lot of good games slated for Thursday all the way through Sunday. The majority of games will be played on Saturday, and I think the best game taking place Saturday would have to be #16 Auburn hosting #11 Oregon. Despite being ranked lower, Auburn is a 3.5 point favorite, and the over/under is pretty high at 56 points. According the ESPN Matchup Predictor, Auburn has a 53% chance of winning, so not only will this be a very close game, it also is pitting two fairly highly ranked teams against each other early on. Oregon is +140 with the money line, and Auburn is -160. The over/under seems a bit high considering that Auburn is returning a lot of good defensive players, so they definitely have experience on that side of the ball.

The key for the Ducks, if they want to win- and of course they do- is to get out early and then hold on. It will be tough for them to play catch-up. If they control the clock, they will have to establish their run game early. It will be tough for the Ducks to win on the road, especially at Auburn, but if they can get that early lead and control the clock, I think they can definitely have a shot at winning. But Auburn has the ability TO put points up quickly, and so at home, the first game of the season, I think the Tigers pull out the home victory, which will be an upset in that they are ranked lower than the Ducks, but not an upset in that they are favored in Vegas to win.
