Once again Tennessee, Duke, Virginia, and Gonzaga remained the top 4 teams in the NCAA men's college hoops rankings for both the AP 25 and the Coaches Poll.
The Kentucky Wildcats continues to slowly make its up way that list, climbing 2 spots to the #5, and both Michigan and Michigan State fell to #7 and #9 respectively in the AP Poll. Since the poll came out, Tennessee, Duke and Kentucky have all won again, but MSU fell to Illinois (an 8-15 team), 79-74. They'll at least get to play at home next against a bad Minnesota team, so they can probably get back on track a little, but I don't see the making a deep run in the tournament since Joshua Langford is done for the year.
The big game Saturday will be the early 9:00 am PT game when Michigan hosts #15 Wisconsin. Wisconsin moved up 5 spots to #19 and I think by the end of the regular season they can get in to the top 15. I can see them being a Sweet 16 team this year.
The Michigan Wolverines have a 67.5% chance of winning this game according to ESPN, and they will probably come out swinging since they lost to Iowa earlier this week pretty badly 74-59, for just their second loss of the season. Their first loss, however, was against this same Wisconsin team in Wisconsin just two weeks ago when they fell 64-54, so even more reason they'll come out swinging. For the Badgers, that win against the Wolverines started their current 5 game winning streak.
But I think the Wolverines have the edge in this one, being at home, coming off a loss, and having that Wisconsin loss from Jan. 19th fresh in their minds. I think the Wolverines cover the spread, and then some, Saturday morning.
