This Saturday, Michigan State Spartans will host the Indiana Hoosiers. The Hoosiers are having a dismal season, going 12-9 thus far. They started off strong at 12-2, but have since lost 7 in a row. Their last win was their only win in January, on the 3rd against Illinois. They only have a 7% chance of winning this game Saturday.
The Spartans, on the other hand, are 18-3. They had their 13 game winning streak come to an end last Sunday at Purdue 73-63. That loss dropped them 3 spots in the coaches poll to #6. While Michigan State should have an easy time Saturday, the rest of their season took a big hit when it was announced that their guard Joshua Langford will be out the rest of the season. He already missed the team's past 8 games, but it was just announced Wednesday the bad news that he'll be out the rest of the season, and will likely need surgery for his left foot injury.
He is expected to recover and be ready for the 2019-20 season. As for this year, it's unlikely now the Hoosiers make the tournament, and the Spartans should get a high seed, maybe a 2 or 3, but without Langford and their foul trouble problems, I don't think they make it past the Sweet 16. Even though the Spartans should win Saturday, I think the Hoosiers make a game of it and keep it close, losing by 5 points. Tip-off is 3:00 pm PT Saturday from East Lansing.
