The latest NCAA men's basketball polls are out, and the top 4 teams are the same in both the coaches poll and AP poll: Tennessee, Duke, Virginia, and Gonzaga. Duke was the top seeded team a week ago, and they had a big showdown last weekend against the last undefeated team standing- Virginia. But the Blue Devils had to play Syracuse before Virginia. They obviously were too focused on Virginia that they overlooked Syracuse, and it cost them, as they fell at home 95-91. They did bounce back to beat the Cavaliers Saturday, handing them that first loss, which helped keep Duke from falling even further in the rankings, but Tennessee has now won 12 in a row, and for now, are the #1 seed in both polls.
Duke and Virginia will play again this season, next time at Virginia, on February 19th, a game I think Virginia wins this time around. The big game coming up this weekend in college hoops would have to be the #8 Kentucky Wildcats hosting #9 Kansas Jayhawks. Kentucky is a perfect 10-0 at home this year, and the Jayhawks are just 1-3 on the road. The spread isn't out yet, but Kentucky has a 66% chance of wining according to ESPN. They have also been playing really well over the past month, while Kansas has not been playing great as of late.
Earlier in the year, I would say Kansas would win, but Kentucky with the home court advantage and their recent play should get the victory. In their last 5 games, Kentucky is 4-1 with a 4 game winning streak, and Kansas is 3-2 with a 1 game losing streak Both teams have similar points for and against numbers. Kansas is scoring 78 and giving up 69.8 per game, and Kentucky is scoring 80.2 and giving up 68.2 per game. It definitely won't be a blowout, I am thinking a 4 point Wildcat victory, 75-71.Reduced Juice at 5Dimes Offshore Sportsbook! Join 5Dimes...before the Madness begins.
