The two biggest rivalry games this weekend in college football are Texas Tech hosting Texas and Oklahoma hosting Oklahoma State. That Oklahoma game is supposed to be a shootout with an over/under of 79 points. That's not a typo. Too bad in both those games, only one team is ranked, it would have made it a bit more exciting if both teams were. The Sooners need to win if they want a chance at one of the four playoff spots. They are ranked 6th currently, but the 5 teams ahead of them are anywhere from a 14-40 point favorite this weekend, so they'll probably be at #6 for at least one more week.
The closest college football game in terms of ranked teams battling this weekend is #10 Ohio State on the road against #18 Michigan State. Ohio State-Michigan is always a big rivalry game, but against Michigan State it just doesn't have the same buzz around it. But it still is a big-BIg Ten match-up nonetheless. The Buckeyes are a 3.5 point road favorite, and the over/under is 52 points. Ohio State bounced back from that embarrassing blowout to un-ranked Purdue a few weeks back by beating-barely-Nebraska last week coming off a bye. MSU beat that same Purdue team two weeks ago 23-13.
Ohio State has won the last 6 times they played at Michigan State. I think this is a bounce-back game for the Buckeyes. I think after playing poorly the past two weeks, they are looking to prove themselves, and a road win against a ranked team, a divisional rival, could get them back in the mix of things. There's a slight chance they can make the playoffs, but they need to win out, and it will start this Saturday at 9:00 AM PT.
