There's a few great match-ups this weekend in college football. Over in the Big 10, #17 Penn State is hosting #18 Iowa, and over in the Pac 12 you have #24 Stanford hosting #14 Washington State, who are coming off a huge victory against Oregon. Washington State was 25th last week but moved up big time with that home victory against then #12 Oregon, but I think this week will be a flip flop. Unlike last week when WSU was #25 and hosting #12, the #24 is hosting a now #14 WSU, and I think the outcome will be Stanford pulling off the upset win this week at home. Well, they are a 3 point favorite, so it won't be an upset in that regard, but when you are ranked 10 seeds below the team you're playing, in a sense that's a big upset in my book.
The big game, though, has to be over in the SEC, where #7 Georgia is hosting #9 Florida; both 6-1 teams. Georgia is coming off that tough loss at LSU 36-16 two weeks ago, but had a bye week to regroup and is now favored by 6.5 points. They have a 69% chance of winning the game according to the ESPN matchup predictor, and thus are -265 with the money line. The Gators are +215. I think it will be tough for Georgia to drop two games in a row, however. It’s worth noting that the week before Georgia lost to LSU, Florida beat LSU 27-19.
I think Georgia gets back to its winning ways this week, winning outright and covering the 6.5 points. Kickoff is 12:30 PM PT Saturday.
