College Football for Saturday, 9/15/2018
There are a few more good college football match-ups this week than in week two. Among them are four undefeated ranked teams- TCU hosting Ohio State, and Oklahoma State hosting Boise State. Even Texas hosting USC should be a fun game to watch stemming from the rivalries during the Reggie Bush and Vince Young era. But the biggest game of them all clearly is out in the SEC West, where #7 Auburn is hosting #12 LSU. Auburn is a big 10.5-point favorite, and -410 with the money line. That's a really large spread considering the teams are ranked pretty close to each other, and since it is a conference game, but the match-up predictor gives Auburn a huge 74.2% chance to win the game. And yes, I do think Auburn wins their home game, but no, I don't think they do it by 10.5 points or more. LSU is only averaging 8.5 points given up over their first two games.
Defensively, both teams are allowing almost identical pass and rush yards so far, but Auburn has the clear advantage on the other side of the ball, where they have much more passing and rushing total yards, as well as 10 more points per game. LSU can slow that down to some degree, but not to the point where they win the game. It's worth noting that LSU beat #8 Miami 33-17, while Auburn beat #6 Washington 21-16. The following week, they both had blowout wins over much weaker competition: LSU a 31-0 shutout, and Auburn a 63-9 victory. One thing I do know for sure, if this game doesn't end in a tie, then the Tigers will win 100%.
