The first match of the Stanley Cup Finals was one of the most exhilarating games in the tournament as there were 10 goals, along with four lead changes. Vegas Golden Knights extended their dream run in Game 1, by beating the Washington Capitals 6 – 4. The match between the two was neck and neck, till Tomas Nosek put the puck in the back of the net, with a backdoor goal.

The Washington Capitals pressured the Vegas Golden Knights, late into the game, but it wasn’t enough to draw first blood. Although there were big names such as Alex Ovechkin, Braden Holtby, and Marc-Andre Fleury on the ice, the Golden Knights forward from the fourth-line were the ones who dealt the killing blow.

With the first game under their belt, the Golden Knights will be at an advantage during the second match on May 30th, in Vegas. The Capitals will need to come up with different strategies if they want Alex Ovechkin to make a bigger impact in Game 2. With only two shots and a single assist, the Golden Knights played an excellent game in keeping the Russian captain quiet the entire match.

Regardless of which team wins the tournament, one of them will be going home with the first Stanley Cup. Will it be the ever-surprising Vegas Golden Knights or the resilient Washington Capitals who will end up winners of Game 2?
