Fiesta Bowl: Ohio State Buckeyes vs Clemson Tigers Preview
College football fans are in for a treat on New Years Eve as two of the nation’s best teams fight for the Fiesta Bowl. Ohio State and Clemson, ranked No. 3 and No. 2 respectively in the playoff rankings, face each other at the University of Arizona Stadium and experts are conflicted while picking a clear winner. Ohio State is narrowly ahead on the betting spread with Clemson’s inconsistency being a problem for many fans.
The Tigers have one of the best overall teams in the nation and host Heisman candidate QB Deshaun Watson. They have all the makings of a great team and morale will be high after a win against Virginia Tech seized the AAC Championship for them. Watson is the key player for the Tigers as he has managed to retain his passing abilities from last season. The only drawback for Watson is his lack of rushing yards this season. Consistency has been a problem for the Tigers as they have come dangerously close to losing games. Even their title game against Virginia almost went the other way after a sub par defensive performance.
Ohio State Buckeyes
The Buckeyes might be below the Tigers in the playoff rankings but there is no doubt that they are a more stable team. QB J.T Barrett is their key player this season and is responsible for over 30 touchdowns and 3500 yards for the Buckeyes. They also have Curtis Samuel, who has carried for 91 rushes this season. Defensively, Ohio are solid and have pulled off 19 interceptions, 7 of which led to touchdowns for the Buckeyes. Malik Hooker has been exceptional with 6 picks this season.
While both teams are good, Ohio have faced big teams this season and come out on top. Clemson, on the other hand, are yet to win against a Top 10 team. Ohio has also been more consistent throughout and this is their game to lose.
