The Bowl games start this Saturday in college football, and while they are not the huge bowl games that will come closer to Christmas and especially New Year’s, they are important to the respective schools none-the-less. One of the games scheduled on Saturday does have a top 25 team playing, and that is #22 Utah. They will host BYU in the Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl. Being played in Vegas, this game should have some extra betting movement than if it were these two teams in another bowl. Las Vegas has a big Mormon population, so that helped this game sell out quickly.
Both teams are 9-3. Utah is a 3 point favorite. The over/under is 54, which is kind of high since both these two teams play pretty good defense, and probably will play extra defense considering they are both from Utah, so state-bragging rights are also on the line. Both teams finished the regular season with a win on November 28th. BYU is 8-4 overall against the spread.
They are 3-1 as the underdog, and 3-3 as the road team. Utah is 5-7 overall against the spread. They are 3-5 as the favorite and 2-5 as the home team. This game is on ABC at 12:30 PST Saturday at Sam Boyd Stadium. ESPN has Utah at a 59.6% chance of winning this game, and I think they do win, they cover the 3 points, and it goes under 54 points.
