This Sunday night, week 12 will cap off with a big NFC North showdown when the Minnesota Vikings host the Green Bay Packers. The Vikings are a 3.5 point home favorite and the over/under is 47.5 points. This should be a pretty tight game, with the Vikings having a slight 56% chance of winning according to the ESPN match up predictor. Both teams need a win to keep those playoff hopes alive. Both teams are coming off road losses.
The Pack lost to Seattle last week and the Vikings lost to the Bears. Green Bay is a completely different team at home than on the road this year. They are 4-0-1 at Green Bay, and 0-5 on the road. Minnesota is 3-2 at home this season. These two teams played to a tie back in September- 29-29- in a game where rookie kicker Carlson missed 3 field goals, (2 in OT) and was released soon after that.
The Vikings have not played well in prime time games this year, already losing 3 of those games, including that loss to Chicago last Sunday night. So, either Green Bay gets its first home win, or Minnesota gets a rare prime time win, or perhaps they play to another tie.
This one is a tough one to call. With the spread, I like Green Bay getting 3.5 points, but straight up I think the Vikes win a close one at home and keep that playoff spot. If you do like the Pack straight up, they are +155 right now, and Minnesota is -185. Kickoff is Sunday night at 5:20 PM PT.
