Monday night, a big showdown in the AFC West is going down when the Denver Broncos host the 3-0 Kansas City Chiefs. Denver is 2-1 thus far, but are 2-0 at home, and the Chiefs are having a surprising start behind the hot play of QB Patrick Mahomes. The second year QB already has 896 passing yards along with 13 TDs and zero interceptions. No surprise that they are a 4.5-point road favorite. ESPN has them at a 57% chance of winning. The over/ under is 55 points.
Denver at home is tough, especially with the altitude, so I am already leaning towards the under in this contest, even though KC is averaging a league-leading 39.3 points per game. Denver played against Mahomes last year, so that could help them a little bit this Monday as they prepare for the Chiefs, although their offensive look is different this time around. And don't forget about the Bronco's linebacker Von Miller, who already has 4 sacks on the young season. He'll be sure to keep Mahomes on his toes all game.
KC is -210 with the money line, and Denver is +175. When it is all said and done, I think KC still comes out in the end 4-0. As mentioned Denver is 2-0 at home, but their two wins were with a combined 4 points, so they haven't played particularly well. I like KC outright, and I like the under in this one. The first game of October will be this Monday with a 5:15 PT kickoff.
