There a lots of good college football games to watch this weekend. Some that stand out are #7 Stanford at #8 Notre Dame, #11 Washington hosting #20 BYU, and #24 Cal hosting #19 Oregon. Poor Oregon. They had a commanding 24-7 halftime lead last week against Stanford, but the Cardinal came back to get the overtime win 38-31. Stanford has another very tough road game against the Irish where they are 5.5 point dogs.
For me, the Big 10 match-up of 4-0 teams Penn State, ranked #9, hosting #4 Ohio State will be the most exiting game on the board. Ohio State is a 3.5 point road favorite, and the over/under is huge at 71 points. ESPN actually gives a slight advantage to Penn State with a 53% chance to win. The Nittany Lions are +145 money line, while the Buckeyes are -170. This looks to be a shootout. Penn State has scored back to back 63 point games, with their lowest scoring game coming in the opener when they scored 45 points. Ohio State's lowest score of the season was still 40 points, and that was against #16 TCU.
They put up 77 in their opener. So, regardless of the winner, I think the over is definitely coming in. This is a tough one to call. Three of the last four times these teams met the game was decided by 7 or fewer points. Penn State is one of the toughest places to play for opponents. Ohio State will get a boost when RB Mike Weber returns from a foot injury last week, but I don't think it will be enough, I think the Lions pull out a home victory, and even go on to earn a playoff spot. Kick off is at 4:30 PT Saturday.
