Seattle Seahawks vs Chicago Bears
The Bears always seem to find a way to lose. They just signed Mack from the Raiders, and in his first game in a Chicago uniform, he forced two turnovers, had a pick-6, and the Packers were held scoreless at the half, trailing 17-0. Then Aaron Rodgers comes back in the second half and leads them to a one point victory. To be fair, nobody picked the Bears to win that game in the first place, but that game was clearly theirs to lose, and somehow they found a way to do just that. Monday night, they will have their home opener against another 0-1 team, the Seattle Seahawks, who are coming off a 27-24 road loss to the Broncos.
Chicago is -3.5 points, so while the home team generally gives up 3 points each game in the spread, this shows the Bears are a very slight favorite to win this one. ESPN has them at a 57% chance of winning the game. The over/under is 43 points. Now Russell Wilson is a really good/capable QB, but he is not Aaron Rodgers, so I think the Bears' defense can take over and propel them to a home win, but they have to play both halves. The Seahawks will be a little bit bruised up and might be without linebacker Wright, WR Baldwin, and guard Fluker. If the bears do win this one outright, I see it by a small margin, maybe 3 points max, so that half point could really be a huge difference maker. I like the Bears to win, but not cover the spread. I also think the total score will be very close to 43, but I see it coming in just under, maybe a 21-20 as both defenses are pretty good. Kickoff is 5:15 PT Monday night.
