USC Bruins vs Stanford Cardina: Saturday, 9/8/2018
College football week two is approaching this weekend. Last week saw the usual week one blowouts by top-ranked teams against un-ranked teams, like Alabama's 51-14 victory, or Georgia's 45-0 shutout. That trend continues this week as most of the ranked teams play un-ranked schools that probably belong in Division III.
I'm looking at W. Virginia vs. Youngstown State for example. The one game that seems to have the most appeal would have to be #10 Stanford hosting #17 USC in a big Pac-12 contest. Before I get into that though, I'd like to take a quick look at Oklahoma vs. UCLA. I know the Sooners are ranked 6th, are at home, and that UCLA has a bunch of freshmen and couldn't even manage to beat Cincinnati last week. But a 30.5-point underdog? I don't think the Bruins will let it get that out of control.
Back to USC-Stanford. The Cardinal are a 6-point favorite at home, and the over/under is 56.5 points. I can see that easily going over. These two teams combined for almost 75 points last week, granted against much weaker teams. The Trojans are +190 with the money line, and the Cardinal are -240. While Stanford definitely has the upper hand, I think a risk on USC to pull off an outright victory that will yield almost double your money could be a risk worth taking. USC fell behind early last week against UNLV, but once they took the lead they never looked back. I think their 2nd half momentum carries over into this weekend's game, and they pull off the Pac-12 upset on the road. Kickoff is at 5:30 PT.
