World Cup Game: June 23 - Korea Republic vs. Mexico
When Mexico went against Germany in the first round of the 2018 World Cup, no one expected the reigning champions to be dethroned. But, that’s exactly what happened. Hirving Lozano brought smiles to his people’s faces, scoring the solitary goal that helped Mexico progress to the next phase.
The Mexico is now in a good position to qualify for the knockout stage for the 7th time.
South Korea, on the other hand, put up a mediocre display against Sweden. Both teams were missing opportunities consistently. However, the Swedes did manage to get one goal through, courtesy of a penalty.
The Asian team has failed to make it to the group stage 7 out of 9 times. They are at risk of doing so again.
Current comparisons show that both teams are identical in some ways. They both have 2 wins and a single draw in all 5 meetings across multiple tournaments. However, at a recent meeting in 2014, Mexico managed to walk away with 4 goals while Korea secured none.
Mexico’s recent performance against Germany was brilliant, to say the least. However, they still need to sharpen their finish. Korea, on the other hand, is a highly defensive team. But, their one-dimensional attack approach is a problem.
