Buccaneers vs Jaguars Preview
Thursday 8-17-2017 on ESPN
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Although Tampa Bay Buccaneers were competitive during the early stages of the game, they lost to Cincinnati Bengals, 28 – 12. The second half was where the Buccaneers lost their footing as the Bengals scored 17 – 3. Another interesting development for the Buccaneers is the removal of Roberto Aguayo, the second-year kicker. Last season, Aguayo had FG conversion rate of 71% or 22 for 31, the worst among all NFL kickers. Last game against Bengals, Aguayo failed to convert an extra point and another FG. It will be intriguing to see if Buccaneers continue to remain aggressive, to create rhythm for Mike Evans and Jameis Winston. The duo had four receptions and 13 pass attempts, which is rare especially during preseason games. Kwon Alexander set the pace for tackles, while Vernon Hargreaves made an interception.
Jacksonville Jaguars will enter this preseason game on a high note after edging New England Patriots, 31-24 last game. Given that the rookies managed to score all the points during the first three-quarters, they will be confident when playing against Buccaneers. Brandon Allen and Chad Henne saw a lot of action last game, after getting 10-for-13 and two touchdowns. Meanwhile, Blake Bortles got 3-for-6 in the match against the Patriots. Keelan Cole is a man to watch out for, after setting a record 97-yard score. Corey Grant also had a good game after bursting through and covering 79-yards. Jacksonville Jaguars will play a similar style against Buccaneers, putting the pressure on them during the early stages of the game. The defense is solid as they were able to get four QB hits and three sacks last game.
