Orange Bowl Preview: Michigan Wolverines vs Florida State Seminoles
Michigan Wolverines face off against the Florida State Seminoles in the Orange Bowl to kick off the New Year Six games. The Seminoles finished the regular season in strong fashion with 4 wins while the Wolverines had a much less memorable ending. Nevertheless, the Wolverines are favorites to win the Bowl.
The Wolverines have had a great season under Jin Harbaugh and were consistently present in the playoff spots throughout the season. A heart breaking loss to Ohio State during the last game of the regular season, wiped out their playoff chances but they have the chance to end the season on a high with a Bowl win. The Wolverines have one of the best defenses in the nation with 44 sacks and Don Brown’s men will put the pressure on the Seminoles. Jabrill Peppers is also a valuable asset for the Wolverines and is considered to be one of the best playmakers in the league. Overall, the Wolverines are solid on both defensive and offensive fronts.
Florida State Seminoles
The Seminoles have a great record against Big Ten opponents, winning 8 out of their last 10 games. While that is a good stat, the Wolverines are never ones to lay down and take it. The game is going to be a fierce one and Dalvin Cook will be the Seminoles’ best chance at winning. The running back proved his worth by scoring 11 touchdowns in his last 5 games. Defensively, the Seminoles seemed to have kicked into gear at the end of the season, holding teams to just 13.5 points per game in the last 4 games. QB Deondre Francois will have to find a way against Don Brown’s defensive pressure if the Seminoles are to win this one.
The Orange Bowl would be good win for either team but it would mean more to a defeated Wolverines as they fight to restore morale and end the season on a high. They are also more solid overall, compared to a Seminoles side that has buckled against pressure before.
