New Mexico Bowl: UTSA vs New Mexico Preview
New Mexico have a second chance at winning a Bowl on their home field, after failing to do so last year. UTSA have qualified for their first ever bowl game since 2007, when the program was started. Both teams are in good form but offshore sportsbooks are predicting a win for New Mexico.
New Mexico Lobos
There is no doubt that the Lobos have had a great season and thoroughly deserve a place in the bowl game after knocking out Wyoming with a resounding 56-35 victory. That win sealed the Mountain Division title and paved their way to end the season on a high. Running backs Tyrone Owens and Teriyon Gipson are the key players for the Lobos as both have managed to run for over a 1,000 yards this season. The Lobos have lost only thrice so far this season and will be hoping to win the Bowl after 55 years.
The University of Texas San-Antonio started their program only 6 years ago. While the strength of the program is yet to be established, they have qualified for their first bowl game after beating Charlotte 33-14 in the final game of the regular season. Dalton Sturm and Jared Johnson played exceptionally in that game and will be key to the Roadrunners’ hopes in the bowl game as well.
The Sum Up
The 2 teams last met in 2014 and the Lobos were able to win that game with ease. This time, they also have home advantage on their side and will be looking to make the most of the opportunity. The Lobos defense will be the deciding factor in this game. Those who bet on college football are gunning for Lobos win.
