Well, the Bowl Championship game is set, but there are still some Bowl games taking place before the championship game. This Saturday there are some good bowl games slated. The best of those four games will be played at the Valero Alamo Bowl in San Antonio, TX, when #11 TCU hosts #15 Oregon. TCU finished 10-2, and Oregon finished 11-3.
TCU is a current 8 point underdog. They are +235 with the money line, and Oregon is -275. The over/under is a huge one at 74 points. First one to 70 points wins? OK, it won’t be that big of a shootout, but I think this can easily go over 74 points. Both teams score over 40 points per game on average, though TCU only gives up just over 26. TCU had a pretty rough schedule this year. They lost to then #14 Oklahoma State 49-29 when they were on the road, and then at Oklahoma 30-29.
Both teams last played over a month ago on November 27. TCU beat Baylor in double OT, and Oregon beat Oregon State 52-42. Both teams’ overall record against the spread are not great, but it is worth noting that TCU is 2-0 when they are the underdog, and Oregon is 5-0 when they are the away team against the spread.
This will be a true road game for Oregon as TCU gets to play in their home state of Texas. Kickoff is at 3:45 PST on Saturday, Jan. 2. ESPN gives TCU a 68% chance to win this game, despite their starting QB Boykin suspended after attacking a San Antonio police officer in a bar fight. That suspension will end his college career as he is a senior.
