This Thursday night, the New York Jets will host the Buffalo Bills in a key AFC East matchup. The New England Patriots (8-0) are clearly in the driver’s seat to win the division, and even repeat as Super Bowl Champions, but just one game separates New York and Buffalo for 2nd and 3rd place in the division. It should be a really close game.
The Jets are favored by just 2.5 points. They are -150 with the money line, and the Bills are +130. The over/under is currently at 42.5 points. It should be a low scoring affair. The Jets score 25 points per game, and the Bills aren’t too much better at 26.1. The Jets allow 20.3 ppg, and the Bills are allowing 23.8. Both teams won on Sunday coming off two losses in a row. Jets QB Ryan Fitzpatrick is listed as questionable as he is dealing with a torn ligament in his left thumb. He may choose to have surgery before the end of the season. If he does play in this game, which I think he will, at least the injury is in his non-throwing arm.
The Bills are 3-5 against the spread this year overall. They are 2-1 as the underdog and 1-2 as the away team. The Jets are 4-3-1 against the spread this year. They are 3-3 as the favorite and 2-2 as the home team. Usually an NFL team is given a 3 point cushion in the spread for being the home team. The Jets are favored at 2.5 points so this game should be a very close, low scoring affair. I think the Jets will come out on top by at least a field goal.
